IMATS(4)NYX Cosmetics

As we were walking around the show, I noticed a long queue for one make up brand in particular, NYX. Now I didn’t have a clue about this brand but I queued up anyway (never one to miss out!). I’m glad I did as I was not disappointed.

They are a very popular, affordable make up brand and most important of all their make up is amazing.

Other people I got talking to were showing me their NYX favourite’s. So I’ve written for you a few NYX must haves:

White Jumbo Eye Pencil- This was recommended by a fellow make up artist who uses it as a base for eye shadows. I was encouraged by the fact she told me it really brings out  colour particularly in brown skins (purchased). Really makes a difference tried it myself.

Black Jumbo Pencil- excellent for a quick smokey eye

Matte Lipsticks- Very long lasting and not too matte if you know what I mean. Usually I find with matte lipsticks  that my lips dry out very quickly. I don’t have this problem with this lipstick at all. Favourite matte at the moment.

IMATS (3)-Make up Designory ( MUD)

Now I have never seen this make up brand before but I have to say I was very impressed by the quality of their product. We were curious about their cream foundations and were a bit disappointed to discover their limited range for women of colour. However my opinion changed when we were given an impressive demonstration of how their product could work for us.

photo (98)

MuD foundations are made up of 55% pigmentation! Not only that, they are silicone based meaning that when mixed with a water based product i.e a primer, it’s soluble (blends together smoothly unlike oil based products)

The smoothness and application ease was second to none, it literally melted into the skin. Flawless application.

The lady demonstrating even went on to say the longest she had worn the product was 3 days, without it coming off! (not sure if this is a good or bad thing)

However if you are looking for a foundation with long staying power then this is it!

IMATS (2)- LA Splash: Eye Primer

photo (99)

With Primer, Without primer – Can you guess?

The difference is immense! The eye primer we brought was from a brand called LA Splash. You can see how intense and strong the colour is with primer. It is a vibrant change, can’t recommend enough.

Proof is in the pudding peeps.

There were so many stalls I didn’t know where to begin but I soon found my feet and was pleased by my discoveries . I was excited by the wonderful array of brands not very well known in the UK.

It was an eye opening experience and I realised that there is so much choice out there. If you look hard enough you will discover something amazing.

Here are a few snippets of our day:

I was impressed by their large selection of foundations. It’s nice to see brands showing consideration for all women with a variety of shades to choose from. Make up mole couldn’t get over their waterproof foundation!

Make up mole and the miraculous stranger

Make up mole was magically made up by a make up genius in the NYX queue. He literally whipped out his brush and some bright green eye shadow that he’d just brought and performed a miracle. Will definitely be visiting him in Liverpool. Micheal Perks is the name.

Meet the Girls

(Left to Right)

Yvonne was a bit of a tomboy before we corrupted her with all things pink and girly. We channelled her feminine prowess in this shoot and I must say she did pretty damn well. Yvonne is actually new to the whole make up game,  in fact, she actually brought her first foundation this year (I know!)-what the hell has she  been doing all this time! She is obsessed with it now and always bluntly tells me when what I’m experimenting with is not looking good!(thank you ever so much)

The youngest of the house full of girls is Phoebe. We call her the pampered Princess and she really lives up to the nickname. Her make up selection is bigger than mine and she too has even schooled me on some products (I know she is happy that I’ve admitted this). She loves fashion and make up, definitely a girls girl-always trying to persuade my Mum for money for her latest fads which is currently £100 eyelashes! (it’s not happening love).

Last but not least, me, Debbi. I am the ”wisest” (no need to mention age)and tiniest of the three. I love love love colour, am overly obsessed with lipstick, and need help for my unhealthy relationship with shoes (it’s serious). I started House Full of Girls because, well I live in a house full of girls.

I recently left Beauty School and during my time there, my sisters always helped me when I needed to practice and better my skills. As they say ‘practice makes perfect’ and without their help I wouldn’t have been able to do it. From Skin Care to make up (even waxing), they were semi- willing volunteers! And this blog is the follow up to our journey into this world.  We are just sharing little snippets of some of the things we like to try, who knows where it will take us, we just hope you enjoy and support us along the way. Vice versa, we are keen to support others like ourselves so if you are young girl doing your thing let us know- we would love to feature you.

House Full of Girls

Picture1

What happens in a house full of girls?

Well in our house we spend sunny afternoons delightfully plucking beautiful flowers from the garden. We conjure up delicious home cooked recipes that we absolutely love to share together. We always lend our clothes with kindness and most cherished of all, never argue.

NOT.

Of course we argue, steal each others clothes, shoes and especially make up! We do not cook for one another, although we might ( I might) occasionally be in a good mood and offer to tong someone’s hair (this is not often).

Nevertheless, although we have our usual problems, which I’m sure you can all agree is normal…we learn a lot from each other. Whether it be the latest fashion, jewellery or make up trend, we keep each other up to date and that’s the great thing about living in a house full of girls.
